US Scientists Reject Interference
Dec 15th, 2006 by Jason
In my view this is a big story and should not be side-lined in the Science and Nature section, as the BBC have done, but given front page coverage.
The statement, signed by 10,000 US researchers, has the backing of 52 Nobel Laureates. This is clearly an important document if it is supported by so many very intelligent people. Unfortunately the scientists that do the research are not often influential in the same way the politicians and businessmen they work for are.
What they are claiming is that:
scientists working for federal agencies have been asked to change data to fit policy initiatives.
To many of the sceptical public this is no surprise but the fact that these people are saying this in public should be supported.
