Amtrak’s Pre 9 am delivery means 12:35pm
Dec 21st, 2006 by Jason
The ‘delivery attempted’ card from Amtrak was waiting for me when I got home last night. After being told by Mesh Computers customer service that they had arranged for the delivery to be made before 9 o’clock I was seriously unimpressed to find that Amtrak had attempted delivery at 12:35!
How lucky that I only waited home until 09:05 for this delivery. Amtrak is causing serious damage to the Mesh Computers brand. Here is the contents of a further email that I have just sent to Mesh.
I thought you may want to know that after you had gone to the trouble of arranging for a pre 9am delivery, to make up for the fact that I had been waiting for a week for my delivery, that Amtrak cocked it up again.
When I arrived home last night there was a card from Amtrak informing me that they had attempted delivery at 12:35
The card states that a second attempt will be made today otherwise the parcel will be held for collection at the delivery office. The delivery office does not even have a proper address:
Dainton Business Park (A38)
Between Heathfield & Chudleigh Knighton Exits
TQ12 6RG
As this address is outside of the city where I live it, seems unreasonable to expect me to have to travel there to collect a parcel I have paid £8 to have delivered.
I have not had a reply from my previous mail yet.
Surely there is some form of reimbursment for late delivery. The pre-9am delivery service is an agreement. If the terms are broken there must be a complaints procedure. I think writing a letter was a good idea.
This is an interesting situation. I have paid Mesh for a product and been charged for delivery. As I understand it, the delivery contract is between Mesh and Amtrak, which is why I have written to Mesh with my complaint. Unfortunately I have no proof of the agreement and really, it shouldn’t be for me to chase up.
Since this began, I have been doing a little research and it seems there are plenty of forum threads where people have had trouble with Mesh. I had genuinely heard that they were good! The magazine reviews are always favourable, although with a vested interest (Mesh’s advertising £’s) I guess they may be a little suspect.
