Tissier Shihan 7th Dan in Worthing
Mar 6th, 2007 by Jason
Like the training scene from ‘Enter the Dragon’, on Saturday, 230 dedicated Aikidoka practiced for 4 hours under the guidance of Christian Tissier Shihan 7th Dan.
The mat area was full to capacity, with just enough space to allow energetic practice of a moderately enthusiastic nature.
For those of you that don’t train, to develop a greater understanding of what students of Aikido get up to, try this exercise:
Lie down (on the floor)
Stand up.
Lie down (on the floor)
Stand up.
Lie down (on the floor)
Stand up.
Lie down (on the floor)
Stand up.
Keep on doing this for 2 hours.
Take a half hour break, and a drink. I wouldn’t advise eating yet!
Resume…
Lie down (on the floor)
Stand up.
Lie down (on the floor)
Stand up.
For another 2 hours.
That will give you some small idea of how our legs feel.
While helping you develop your legs, this practice is missing the fun bit where you fly through the air, which usually preceeds the brief lie on the floor part.
Lol, excellent explanation…. but you did miss out the extra fun part whereby after being flung through the air, you dont quite land as you would like and bang your [insert body part] before coming to rest on the floor
